Pharrell wants “transparency, honesty and justice” after a cousin is shot dead by the police

Pharrell calls for “transparency, honesty and justice” after his cousin’s death in a police shooting incident.

In a social media post on Instagram, Pharrell revealed that his cousin Donovan was recently killed after a series of shootings in Virginia Beach, USA.

Pharrell wrote: “The loss of these lives is a tremendous tragedy. My cousin Donovon was killed during the shootings.

“He was a bright light and someone who always showed up for others. It is important that my family and the families of the other victims receive the transparency, honesty, and justice they deserve.

“Virginia Beach is the epitome of hope and tenacity, and as a community we will get through this and come out stronger.”

You can see the full post below:

A number of Pharrell artists and staff including The Weeknd, Swiss Beatz, Kenya Barris and others have expressed their condolences in the comments on the post.

As reported in Sky News, 25-year-old Donovon Lynch was shot dead by a police officer in a series of three different “chaotic shootings” in the area last Friday (March 26) in Virgina Beach. Two people, including Lynch, were killed while eight others were injured in another incident.

In a statement, the Virginia Police Beach Department said homicide detectors had interviews with an officer involved in the shooting of Lynch, an officer who witnessed the incident and an “independent witness”.

The statement added that both offers alleged that Lynch was “brandishing a pistol at the time of the shooting” and “recovered from the scene”.

A 28-year-old woman, Deshayla E Harris, died of a gunshot wound in another shooting that night. The police believed she was an innocent bystander.

Eight other people were injured in a separate shooting that took place shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday. All were taken to local hospitals, with conditions ranging from “serious to life-threatening”.

Mr Lynch was shot dead by a police officer in a third incident – which happened when, Sky reports, “officials were investigating the original shootings and shots were fired nearby”.

The case sparked controversy after it became known that the officer who killed Lynch was wearing a body camera, but the police chief said it was not turned on for “reasons unknown”.

The officer who shot Lynch has now been put on administrative leave.

Richmond Heights junior striker Josiah Harris signs up for basketball in West Virginia

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio – Josiah Harris has one more season of high school basketball but he’s on his way to West Virginia.

Harris, a 6-foot-7 junior in Richmond Heights, announced his decision on his Instagram account on Wednesday. He selected the climbers from Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Xavier, and Cincinnati.

Harris led Richmond Heights (17: 5) straight to the semifinals of the OHSAA Division IV, where the Spartans lost four points to eventual national champions Botkins. He had 16 points and 12 rebounds in that game and was able to complete a junior season averaging 17.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 blocks per game, earning him a spot on the first team for the entire district brought in.

After being transferred from the Canton of GlenOak, Harris helped the Spartans through to the regional final in the second year before the OHSAA stopped this season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Harris said earlier this month after Botkins’ defeat that it will fuel his motivation for the next season. He is expected to return to a line-up that includes Price Ryan (6-6) and Jaiden Cox Holloway (6-5) for coach Quentin Rogers.

Harris thanked his coaches and family in his announcement on Instagram.

“Thank you mom and dad for guiding me and sacrificing your time, money, and energy to get me there,” Harris wrote. “I am grateful for my siblings who were my biggest fans. I want to thank Coach Q (Rogers), Coach Show, and Coach Logan for working with me and helping me become a better basketball player. You are more than a coach, you are a family. “

West Virginia and coach Bob Huggins are no strangers to Ohio or the northeastern state. The climbers finished between 19-10 this year, qualifying for the NCAA tournament with a roster that included former Warren Harding striker Derek Culver and Cincinnati security guard Archbishop Moeller Miles McBride.

Wilson Senior Guard, Seth Wilson, and Kobe Johnson of Canton McKinley are part of the 2021 Recruiting Class in West Virginia.

Harris is the second engagement in the 2022 class in West Virginia, joining state 6-1 point guardian Josiah Davis of Teays Valley Christian School.

All of the huge pharmacy locations in NoVA offer COVID-19 vaccine

VIRGINIA – Giant Food, a Landover, Maryland-based company with locations in Northern Virginia, announced Wednesday that it is offering the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible residents at all 152 in-store pharmacy locations. This includes operations in Virginia, Washington, DC, Maryland, and Delaware.

Individuals 65 and over are prioritized in Virginia, but anyone in Phase 1a or 1b is eligible. Other eligible residents include health care workers, residents and long-term care facility workers, people 16-64 with an underlying illness, and key frontline workers. The main working groups are: police, fire brigade and dangerous goods; Corrections and homeless workers; Food and agriculture (including veterinarians); Manufacture; Grocery store workers (including grocery vendors at the farmer’s market); public transport (including carpooling); Postmen (USPS and private); Officials who need to maintain continuity of government (including judges and public justice officials); Clergy and religious leaders; and caretakers and cleaners.

“We are very proud of all of our Giant pharmacy teams in our stores who are committed to serving the public and doing their part in vaccinating our communities,” said Paul Zvaleny, director of pharmacies at Giant Food. “We are honored to be able to offer the vaccine at all 152 pharmacy locations to help our communities recover from the pandemic.”

Appointments for the first dose can be made at Giantsfood.com/covid-info. If there are no appointments available, please try again later.

Huge pharmacies use vaccines from Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson, depending on the pharmacy location. If a person is receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, pharmacy staff will schedule appointments for the second dose at the time of the first dose.

COVID-19 vaccinations are free, but residents should bring their health insurance card and driver’s license to the appointment.

In addition to the in-store vaccinations, Giant hosts some outside clinics to ensure fair distribution of the vaccine. Last week, one of the vaccination clinics in the Arc of Prince George’s County, Maryland was housed for people cared for by that organization.

According to the company, expanding availability will improve access for current eligible residents and future privilege groups. The expansion comes because all Virginia locations are expected to begin Phase 1c (certain key workers) by mid-April and Phase 2 (all residents 16 years and older) by May 1. Some health counts have started Phase 1c, but Northern Virginia health counts remain in Phase 1b.

As of this week, Giant Food was selling the vaccine in more than half of its pharmacies. For example, Giant Food locations helped the Fairfax County Health Department process its vaccine waiting list.

As of Wednesday, 2,515,287 people in Virginia have had at least one dose of vaccine (29.5 percent of the population) and 1,346,564 are fully vaccinated (15.8 percent of the population). According to the Virginia Department of Health, an average of 65,046 doses are administered per day.

Pharmacies like Giant have administered 851,218 doses in Virginia, followed by health departments with 1,159,011 administered doses. Hospitals have administered 815,634, doctor’s offices 565,566 and other community health care providers 382,157.

COVID-19 data

The positive average of the PCR tests on March 27 was 5.8 percent. An average of 18,017 PCR tests are reported daily in the state.

There are currently 1,046 COVID-19 patients nationwide, 228 of them in intensive care units and 134 on ventilators. 2021 County Health Rankings rated 3 cities in southwest Virginia among the 5 least healthy places in Virginia

(Photo: Courtesy MGN Online)

RICHMOND, Virginia (WFXR) – Three cities in southwest Virginia are among the least healthy “counties” in the Commonwealth according to the University of Wisconsin’s Institute of Public Health’s annual County Health Rankings, released Wednesday.

This 2021 ranking reports that the five healthiest “counties” in Virginia are Arlington County, Loudoun County, Falls Church City, Fairfax County, and Alexandria City.

However, the five “counties” with the worst health – starting with the least healthy – are the cities of Petersburg, Galax, Covington, Martinsville, and Hopewell, health officials say.

“We at the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) are extremely proud that Arlington and the rest of the Northern Virginia region are in as good health as recognized by the University of Wisconsin Public Health Institute,” said State Health Commissioner Dr. M. Norman Oliver. “We know that many factors affect public health, and the Commonwealth has made great strides in recent years, but we also know that Virginia and its leaders need to fill health care gaps as we move out of COVID -19 pandemic move out. We will not give up our efforts to create healthy communities and improve healthy outcomes for all people of Virginia. “

Here is a breakdown of the general health rankings (from 1 to 133) for the “counties” in Southwest and Central Virginia according to the county’s 2021 health rankings:

  • Alleghany County: 84
  • Amherst County: 55
  • Appomattox County: 75
  • Bath County: 64
  • Bedford County: 32
  • Bland County: 53
  • County Botetourt: 18th
  • City of Buena Vista: 94
  • Campbell County: 44
  • Carroll County: 62
  • Charlotte County: 116
  • Covington City: 131
  • Craig County: 51
  • Danville City: 127
  • Floyd County: 61
  • Franklin County: 67
  • Galax City: 132
  • Giles County: 91
  • Grayson County: 69
  • Halifax County: 103
  • Henry County: 107
  • Highland County: 68
  • Lexington City: 79
  • Lynchburg City: 72
  • Martinsville City: 130
  • Montgomery County: 20th
  • Nelson County: 58
  • Patrick County: 97
  • Pittsylvania County: 90
  • Pulaski County: 83
  • Radford City: 81
  • Roanoke City: 110
  • Roanoke County: 34
  • Rockbridge County: 46
  • City of Salem: 47
  • Wythe County: 77

According to the VDH, even in the healthiest districts of Virginia there are still health inequalities and inequalities within their borders, similar to the national level.

“If we look beyond aggregated data and examine the results of various ethnic, racial and other often marginalized groups, we can see that there are health differences between groups in the Commonwealth,” the VDH said in a statement to the County Health Rankings on Wednesday. March 31. “The COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted these health disparities. VDH remains committed to making all people in Virginia aware of these inequalities and encourages local health departments to bring these issues to the attention of their communities and to work with all populations to create the conditions necessary for optimal health and optimal wellbeing are required. ”

According to the department, the data used to compute the ranking for 2021 is from 2019 and earlier, which means it does not yet reflect the impact of the pandemic or programs that health districts established last year to improve health have performed in their communities. In other words, the general health impact of the pandemic will not be visible until the County Health Rankings data from 2022.

Health officials say the 2021 ranking highlights the differences in health and opportunities by location, as well as health barriers that disproportionately affect communities of black people and low-income families.

The bakery is successful in Knollenberg’s building

RICHMOND, Ind. – Starting a small business is never easy, and a global pandemic makes it even more difficult.

Adam and Nakyla Green did not allow themselves to be dissuaded, however. They took the opportunity and opened the bakery in downtown Richmond on December 23rd. Since then, her business has flourished.

“We put in some long hours and we still have long hours,” said Nakyla. “But I definitely think it’s worth it.” It made our dream come true. “

Just three weeks later, when The Bakery was only advertised on Facebook, the business required the purchase of a second oven and blender. And now not only have they hired the two who do all the work, three more employees.

“It went really well,” said Nakyla. “We had an expectation of what we wanted and we realized pretty quickly that we would do better. We were always very grateful that it was more than we expected.”

The bakery is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 817 E. Main St. and uses part of the Knollenberg building. It is closed on Monday and Thursday.

Nakyla has the most experience in the bakery and has been in the business for about 15 years. Adam worked in a factory and trained to be an auto mechanic before he started baking and found he loved it. Nakyla decorated cakes at Walmart and they both worked at the Joy Ann Cake Shop. In the bakery, Adam and Nakyla bake decorations, he said.

“She can do my job, but I can’t do hers,” said Adam.

The Greens started planning a bakery when they were still working at Joy Ann, which has since closed. They rented their part of Knollenberg for the first time in April 2019.

“We had a plan to do this for a while,” Nakyla said. “We really worked towards it. We worked 40+ hours a week to build the money, to actually get it going. We never knew whether it would actually happen, especially if COVID hit and things changed.

“We only had it so long that we just knew we had to start, so we did this last push and decided to do it the way it is.”

The bakery is located at 817 E. Main St. in part of the Knollenberg building.

The bakery has boxes of cakes, cookies, cream horns, cupcakes, cannoli, and brownies. And of course the baking flavor.

Nakyla said the brownies were popular, and so were the cupcakes. The Greens like to change their offer and publish articles on their Facebook page every day.

“We like to explore different flavors, different desserts, different kinds of things,” said Nakyla. “We don’t like doing the same thing over and over, it gets kind of monotonous.”

Adam said finding the new tastes and flavors was one of the funnest parts of the job. On a final day, the cupcakes contained caramel and mint chocolate offerings while the brownies contained the flavor of a Reese.

The bakery also participates in the Wayne County Convention and Tourism Bureau’s Chocolate Walk, which leads to a variety of sweets across the county.

The bakery offers a variety of baked goods in part of the Knollenberg building in downtown Richmond.

There are lots of sweets in the city center. Three bakeries have opened within three blocks of East Main Street. Hannahs Bakery & Cafe is located at 718 E. Main St. and Sweet Blessings is located at 625 E. Main St.

Nakyla said all three can thrive. She pointed out that Hannah has a lot of gluten-free products and Sweet Blessings has bread, jams and cakes.

“I think everyone has their own niche and there is room for everyone down here,” said Nakyla, adding that local businesses are necessary alternatives to chains and big stores. “I think our city needed it. Things are being made from scratch here, and that means a lot more to me.”

The Greens wanted their business downtown, and they liked the story of the old Knollenberg building.

“I always enjoyed the story down here,” said Nakyla. “You want to bring something back, so it’s not that bare. I just wanted to bring more life here. “

And the choice was obviously worth it. Nakyla said the support from the people on East Main Street and others in the community has been great.

“We definitely appreciate the people who came out and supported us,” she said. “They didn’t have to. We had so much support; it was great.”

WIMI Hologram Cloud’s AI + AR is developing a 5G application ecosystem while Apple plans to launch MR / AR helmets to once again lead the industry

HONG KONG, Mar 31, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – MobiusTrend, the fintech market research organization, recently released a research report, “AI + AR from WIMI Hologram Cloud Develops 5G Application Ecosystem While Apple Plans to Bring MR / AR Helmets to Market Again “. Recently, TianFeng International (TFI) Security analyst Guo Mingqi published an analytical article in which he said that MR (Mixed Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) are the next 10 year trend in the tech industry and forecast the blueprint from Apple MR / AR products. After the development of the next three product generations has been predicted by Apple, a new report will be published. It is predicted that in 2022 Apple will launch VR Head Mounted Display (HMD) and AR glasses around 2025 to shape and guide the future field of virtual reality. Guo Mingqi predicts that Apple’s MR / AR products will be divided into three phases, helmet-type products in 2022, glasses-type products in 2025, and contact lens-type products in 2030-2040. It is predicted that helmet-mounted products can offer AR and VR experiences, while glasses-based products and contact lens-based products are more likely to focus on AR services. It is worth noting that contact lens-type products will move people from the era of “visible computing” to the era of “invisible computing”. However, due to its size, it is unlikely to have independent processing power and storage capacity, and it is likely to rely on connection with iPhone or other devices. The Apple Mixed Reality helmet prototype is currently known to weigh 200-300 grams, but Apple is focused on a technical issue. If it can be solved, the final weight of the product will be reduced to 100-200 grams, which is much lighter than most current VR devices. The configuration will be equipped with Sony’s micro OLED display and multiple optical modules to ensure a see-through AR experience and an immersive experience that is vastly better than existing VR products. It will also feature more than a dozen hand-tracking cameras and advanced eye-tracking technology. There is also good news that Apple will position this device as a “wearable” device. Although it will not be fully “mobile” like the iPhone, it will have independent computing power and storage space, and as technology improves, the mobility of the product will continue to increase. In terms of price, Guo Mingqi predicts that due to its intricate design, the final price may be the same as the high-end iPhone, which will be around $ 1,000 in the US. In addition, Apple can greatly integrate this helmet with video applications (like Apple TV +, Apple Arcade, etc.) which will also significantly increase Apple’s sales. Some analysts predict that the release time of Apple glasses will coincide with the release time of Apple’s electric cars, which means these two products will be integrated to some extent. In the future, Apple glasses may become the default configuration for driving Apple cars. Guo Mingqi claims that Apple’s advantage lies in the definition of an innovative human-machine interface and ecological integration. Looking at Apple’s prospects in the MR / AR space positively, it is expected that Apple will accelerate environmental and industrial growth after introducing MR / AR hardware products. AR stands for Augmented Reality and has always been a hot word in the field of science and technology. It overlays digitally created content in the real world of the user. Augmented Reality technology is a new technology that integrates information from the real world and information from the virtual world “seamlessly”. It’s about overlaying the physical information (visual information, sound, taste, touch, etc.) that is difficult to experience in a given time and space in the real world by computers and other science and technology, and then the virtual information overlay the real world. This can be perceived by the human senses for a sensory experience that transcends reality. The real environment and the virtual objects are superimposed in real time on the same screen or room. Augmented Reality technology not only displays information from the real world, but also virtual information at the same time. The two types of information complement and overlap. In visual augmented reality, users can use the helmet-mounted display to combine the real world with computer graphics and then they can see the real world that surrounds them. Digi-Capital predicts that the global AR and VR market will reach $ 150 billion by 2020. Among them, the AR market size is $ 120 billion and the VR market size is $ 30 billion. Digi-Capital pointed out in the report that the reason the AR market is bigger than the VR market is because virtual reality technology offers a full, closed-loop experience that is great for gamers attractive but of little value to mass users. Digi-Capital believes that due to the nature of VR headsets, VR can only be used in a “controllable environment”, while AR can be used in any situation as the latter does not affect or hinder the user experience. In addition, the use of VR technology is largely limited to the console, PC games, 3D movies, and other sub-fields. However, the use of AR technology can be extended to areas such as advertising, the Internet, live video, business communications, and social media. As a holographic AR company listed on Nasdaq, Weibo and other institutions have strategically invested $ 61.58 million in WIMI, again attracting public attention. WIMI uses its strong technical skills and infrastructure to provide excellent products and services. In the meantime, it has won the offer for China Mobile and the second phase of the holographic remote interaction of the Media Cloud platform and redefines the communication method of China Mobile through “5G + holographic remote”. WIMI’s core business is holographic AR technology for software engineering, media manufacturing services, cloud and big data. WIMI Hologram Cloud was founded in 2015. The focus is on holographic cloud services, mainly in holographic AR HUDs for vehicles, LiDAR for holographic 3D pulses, holographic devices for head-mounted light fields, holographic semiconductors, holographic cloud software, holographic car navigation and other professional fields that use multiple connections of AR -Cover technology, including holographic vehicle-mounted AR technology, holographic pulse 3D LiDAR technology, holographic vision semiconductor technology, holographic software development, AR holographic advertising technology, AR holographic entertainment technology, ARSDK holographic payment, interactive communication, holographic, etc. It is a comprehensive provider of technical solutions for the holographic cloud. AI-MBTWIMI by WIMI, a powerful WIMI holographic cloud management platform developed by the company, is mainly used to provide three service systems to companies, groups, organizations or individuals: AR3D application and holographic entertainment, AR3D application and AR3D holographic advertising Application & Holographic Technology Services. Depending on the application scenario, the cloud platform is divided into To B (for companies) and To C (for customers). There are some differences in functionality and feature support. To B mainly provides holographic virtual content and technical support for advertising, cinema, home improvement, catering, entertainment and other businesses. To C mainly offers the WIMI-Cloud-AI-MBTNSDK holographic and its plug-ins for mobile photography and APP applications to provide various value-added personal services. In the future, it can also be used in AR, Virtual Reality, Smart Glasses and DLP (Digital Optical Processing) that are poured onto the retina. It also has SDK plug-ins and a smart billing system. If the bandwidth requirements for the 5G holographic communication network change, the market for 5G holographic applications will explode. High-end applications such as holographic interactive entertainment and holographic conferencing are gradually becoming popular in holographic social, holographic communication, holographic navigation, and home holographic applications. WIMI Hologram Cloud plans to use AI holographic face recognition technology and AI holographic face alteration technology as core technologies. In addition, several technologically innovative systems are used to support holographic cloud platform services and holographic 5G communication applications. With the rapid development of the Internet, the AR smart wearable industry has entered a new era. Given the fundamentally clear construction plan for the 5G infrastructure, it is assumed that the AR headset industry will also initiate the phenomenon that the strong will become stronger and the weak weaker in the face of tough competition. As AR headset products expand and the system continues to improve, AR technology will reshape traditional industries. In the future, both the content and the hardware of the AR industry are likely to be the dominant business model and spawn new product forms.
