Bring the sweetness of New Orleans to Richmond

RICHMOND, VA. – A coffee shop on wheels serves a classic New Orleans delicacy with a twist and takes Richmond by storm one by one.

Cafe Beignet, a Richmond-based food truck, was officially opened this January by Mississippi-born Brittany Williams.

“We saw amazing support. In our second week we had a line that extended to the back of the parking lot,” said Williams.

With family ties in Louisiana and Mississippi, Williams always dreamed of one day owning his own bakery.

After graduating from culinary school, Williams worked 9-5 and eventually, with the help of her family, opened Cafe Beignet, serving the Richmond community with beignets with a Mediterranean twist.

“I’m the first person in my family to own a business. That means a lot to them,” said Williams.

Customers can get the classic fritters with powdered sugar as well as flavors such as honey buns, peach cobbler, lemon pound cake and soon strawberry cheesecake.

Currently open Wednesday through Thursday, find new flavors and where Cafe Beignet is next to show up on social media.
