Claudia Coon obituary (1949-2021) – Clovis, NM

Claudia Margaret Coon, 72, died on September 16, 2021 in Manassas, Virginia. A visitation will take place on Sunday, October 17, 2021, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Muffley Funeral Home 1430 Thornton St. Clovis, New Mexico. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Kingswood United Methodist Church, 2600 N. Main St. Clovis, New Mexico. Pastor Bill Case will officiate. A funeral service will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, New Mexico on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 1:30 p.m.
Claudia was born on April 29, 1949 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., To the home of Claude O Willette Jr. and Margaret Cruickshank Willette. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1967. In 1971 she graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in music. She married William “Bill” Sullivan Coon on December 1, 1984 in Clovis, New Mexico. Claudia was a primary school teacher and an avid member of Kingswood United. She loved watching her students grow and retire happily. She enjoyed spending time with her family and laughing and singing all the time.
Claudia is survived by her brother; William Willette (Kathy Willette), daughter; Teresa Saulsbury, sons; William Toothaker (Deanna Toothaker) and Thomas Coon (Stephanie Hain), grandchildren; Abery Saulsberry, Talia Saulsberry, Connor Toothaker and Kayleigh Toothaker. Her parents precede her in death: Claude and Margaret Willette, her husband; William “Bill” Sullivan Coon and her son; Christopher Zahnmacher.
