National Landing is the first large-scale 5G smart city in the US

AT&T and JBG SMITH announced plans to make National Landing the US’s first large-scale 5G smart city.

According to the companies, the collaboration is part of a broader effort to unleash a unique 5G innovation ecosystem.

The National Landing neighborhood, which includes portions of Pentagon City, Crystal City, and Potomac Yard, will house Amazon’s HQ2 and the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus. The network is being built and deployed along with the ongoing development of new buildings in the area.

“5G with Local Area Computing Edges could make National Landing a prototype for smart cities of the future and create a unified consumer experience across all asset types. The area could also improve mobility and self-driving vehicles, immersive retail and entertainment, and building automation and environmental sustainability, “the companies explained and underground network infrastructure. ”

The use of the 5G Smart City could attract more technology companies to the region and support companies and residents. “The expected robust technology infrastructure could give businesses, residents and visitors the ability to connect anything and everything in near real time. These improvements could transform National Landing’s engagement and experience for businesses and local residents, ”the companies noted.
