Richmond Athletics Announces Hall of Fame Class in 2021

Stacy Tutt saved his best for the last and crowned his career in Richmond with a record-breaking, award-winning senior season that saw the Spiders finish with a 9th to an Atlantic 10 championship, quarterfinal playoff appearance and No. 8 national rankings final -4 record.

As team captain, he began the 2005 season on wide receiver, but was reinstated as quarterback for the third game of the year, throwing for 2,219 yards and 16 touchdowns. His single season passing game was ranked fourth all-time at Richmond, while his TD passing number was seventh.

His 3,047 yards overall offensive in 2005 was the best of all time at Richmond, while his 6,872 yards overall offensive was second all-time. He finished with 5,318 yards through the air, finishing third, and his 36 career touchdown passes were the fourth best ever at Richmond. His 160 points scored in a career was the fourth highest, while his 72 points in 2005 was the sixth best.

He was named the second Team All-Atlantic 10 in 2005 after being named A-10 Player of the Week twice and National Player of the Week after winning 450 yards overall in the Spiders 43-37 double overtime win had collected against Hofstr. Tutt was named the Richmond Touchdown Club Offensive Back of the Year and was a finalist for the Dudley Award, given to the best Division I soccer player in Virginia.

He showed his versatility and athleticism and spent part of his college career with the wide receiver and his professional career with the halfback. For the Spiders, he caught seven passes for 101 yards in a 2003 game against Delaware. Tutt played as halfback in 11 NFL games for the New York Jets in 2006/07. He later returned to his alma mater as an assistant football coach for two seasons.
