Richmond Heights MetroLink goes out of service after a nearby shooting

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mon. – A man was hospitalized near the Richmond Heights MetroLink station late Sunday afternoon after a shooting.

The shooting occurred before 5:15 p.m. on Galleria Parkway near Interstate 170, according to Colonel Gerry Rohr, chief of the Richmond Heights Police Department.

The victim, a grown man, was conscious and attentive. He was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries, Rohr said.

Witnesses told police they saw a suspect carrying some sort of rifle and running to the Boulevard St. Louis parking garage. The suspect was later seen walking south out of the garage.

Shops on Boulevard St. Louis have been temporarily closed as a precaution. MetroLink also ceased operations around the Richmond Heights, Clayton and Brentwood stations while police searched for the suspect.

The suspect is still at large and the investigation is ongoing, Rohr said.
