An armed man is at large after shooting a Richmond resident who was sitting in his car Thursday, police said.

The Richmond Police Department is looking for information on the shooter. The officers said they were wearing a blue hooded camo jacket, blue jeans and a ski mask.

Police arrived at Lamar Park Apartment Complex, 1800 FM 1640 after 5:17 p.m. Carlos Guiracocha Medina, 56, was dead on the scene, lying on the floor next to his car with a gunshot wound.

Medina was in his vehicle listening to music when approached by the gunman who was likely trying to commit a robbery, police said. The shooter was last seen in a red or burgundy passenger car going west through the complex, and a second person, a driver, may have been involved.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Richmond Police Department at 281-342-2849 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477.
