Events on Friday May 21st

Juniors: The Roaring Twenties | Tudor Place Historic Home & Garden | Washington, DC | Friday

Junior Girl Scouts, head to Tudor Place for a full hour of girl power! From 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the children learn about the life of women in the 1920s and create their own characters. Creativity brings them to life (how fun is that?). The virtual activity will be held via Zoom. Participants will receive an email with login information. Register here.

The Hamilton Live Presents: The 19th Street Band | The Hamilton Live | Washington, DC | Friday Saturday

Ready to rock? The 19th Street Band plays at Hamilton Live! Jam with the folk group over two shows either in person at the venue or via live stream; The venue limits capacity and implements security policies for all live shows. In addition, all age groups are welcome! Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. View the ticket options here.

Drive-in movies | Alexandria Drive-In Cinema | Alexandria, VA | Friday Saturday

Experience movie magic at the Alexandria Drive-In Theater! For $ 40 per vehicle, you can see demonstrations every weekend during the summer months. Food trucks will also be available for concessions. This week’s pick:

  • Friday – “ET the Extra-Terrestrial”
  • Saturday – “Bon Jovi Concert” as part of their Encore Drive-In Nights series.

2021 Maryland Film Festival (virtual) | Parkway Theater | Baltimore, MD | Friday Sunday

Maryland’s largest movie event brought to you by the Parkway Theater is coming back virtually! Tune in to a variety of films throughout the weekend, from shorts and indie films to family-friendly films, with some very special guests along the way (John Waters’ annual screening is a must). Marley Station Carnival | Marley Station Mall | Glen Burnie, MD | Friday Sunday

It’s not summer without the Marley Station Carnival! On Memorial Day weekend, thrill seekers can enjoy amusement park rides, novelty games, fried foods, and more at Marley Station Mall. Food Truck & Music Weekends | Linganore wine cellar | Mt. Airy, MD | Friday Sunday

Relax in the Linganore Winecellars all weekend with a rotating array of local food trucks and live musicians. This weekend’s itinerary includes music by Chasing Autumn and Bob Keel, plus menus from Grilled Cheese Please, Craving Potato Factory, and more. KidsFest & Festival of Kites Spring Fair | Manassas City Museum | Manassas, VA | Saturday

FREE event! Manassas is hosting the largest kid-friendly event in town! There are inflatables and carnival fun for the teenagers, entertainment for the adults and vendors offering the best resources and services to parents everywhere. Backcountry Basics: Earth Connection Series | Sky Meadows State Park | Delaplane, VA | Saturday

Do you have what it takes to survive outdoors? Instructor Tim MacWelch will show you the basics, from first aid to identifying plants to campfires. The Columbia Orchestra is hosting an outdoor performance of “Peter and the Wolf” at Symphony Woods this Saturday. In the Chrysalis in Merriweather Park, children can experience the legendary production as well as songs from successful films such as “Moana” and “The Wizard of Oz”.
