17-year-old killed in rollover in Manassas

MANASSAS, Virginia – A 17-year-old boy is dead and a 14-year-old boy suffered minor injuries after a single vehicle rollover in Manassas Tuesday night.

The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the 12500 block of Purcell Road, according to First Sergeant Jonathan Perok, Public Information Officer for the Prince William County Police.

A preliminary investigation found that the 2004 Acura LX driver was driving north on Purcell Road at high speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle, got off the lane and crashed into you, causing the car to roll several times.

Perok said the driver was unbuckled at the time of the accident and was thrown out of the car. The passenger in the vehicle was buckled up and was slightly injured.

A friend was driving behind the Acura at the time of the accident. This driver took the passenger and the driver to the hospital for treatment, the driver later died of his injuries.

Police have not identified any of the people involved in this crash as they are teenagers, but said both teenagers were from Woodbridge.

Perok said an investigation into the crash was ongoing.
