RICHMOND, Virginia – Two people were shot dead on Lamb Avenue in Richmond Monday night.
The police were called to the 1700 block on Lamb Avenue at around 9:16 pm
“Officials arrived and found an adult man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene,” a Richmond Police spokesman wrote in an email. “A second adult man with a gunshot wound was found nearby and taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.”
The names of the victims have not yet been released and investigations into the acts of violence are ongoing.
Richmond Police have reported 60 murders in the city as of October 10, 2021.
Since 2000, Richmond has recorded an average of about 60 homicides per year.
Between 2002 and 2005, more than 80 people were killed annually in the city in crimes classified as homicides. In the past two years, more than 60 people have been killed in crimes classified as homicides, according to Richmond Crime Statistics.
In 1994, 160 people were killed in the city of Richmond. In 1997, the number of murders in the city was 140.
