2021 Elections: Sample ballots sent to all Fairfax County voters

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA – Registered voters in Fairfax County will receive a personalized sample ballot form by mail from the polling station.

The polling station announced that the mailings will be sent to the county’s 727,000 registered voters this week. The mailings contain offices and candidates who are on the ballot, how a postal vote can be requested, places and times for personal pre-voting as well as the polling station assigned to the voter on election day, Tuesday, November 2nd.

According to a press release, the ballot papers will inform voters before the election. The information is provided in English, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Fairfax County’s voters will have races for the Virginia governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and the House of Delegates on the ballot. There will also be a voting question on public school bonds worth $ 360 million. The only difference between the Fairfax County ballot papers is the House of Representatives races. There are 17 House of Representatives counties in parts of Fairfax County.

Postal ballot papers can be requested until October 22nd. The quickest way to request a postal vote is through the Virginia Department of Elections’ online portal. Paper applications can also be collected from Fairfax County Government Centers and Fairfax County Library branches or downloaded online. The ballot papers must be submitted in person by November 2, 5 p.m. or stamped by November 2 and received by 12 p.m. on November 5, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., any place for personal pre-voting during voting times or the 24/7 post box outside the Fairfax County Government Center. A witness signature is required on the ballot papers.

Early personal voting began on September 17th and will last through October 30th. Three locations are already open: Fairfax County Government Center, Mount Vernon Governmental Center, and North County Governmental Center. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center on weekdays and noon to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays in the Mount Vernon and North County government centers. All three locations are open on Saturday, Saturday, October 23rd and 30th from 9am to 5pm and Sunday, October 24th from 1pm to 5pm

The additional 13 locations opening Thursday October 21-30 are: Burke Center Library, Centerville Regional Library, Franconia Governmental Center, Gerry Hyland Government Center, Great Falls Library, Herndon Fortnightly Library, Mason Governmental Center, McLean Governmental Center, Providence Community Center, Sully Governmental Center, Thomas Jefferson Library, Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, and West Springfield Governmental Center. The opening times are on weekdays from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. as well as on Saturday, October 23 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 24 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In order to vote in person, a valid ID is required, but no photo ID is required. Examples of IDs accepted include a Virginia driver’s license, DMV-issued ID, U.S. passport, recent utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, and more.
