AeroVironment Inc., a manufacturer of drones and robotic systems, announced Tuesday that it has moved its headquarters from Simi Valley, California to Arlington.

“The greater Washington, DC area is home to many of our key customers, and expanding our presence in the region will improve our access to decision makers, influencers and talent,” said Wahid Nawabi, President and CEO of AeroVironment, in a statement. “Our recent acquisition of Progeny Systems ISG and our new Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center add to our presence near the Beltway and build on our momentum as we continue to expand our portfolio and global reach.”

In February, AeroVironment acquired the Intelligent Systems Group (ISG) from Progeny Systems Corp. based in Manassas for $ 30 million in cash. Although the company announced at the time of the acquisition that it would operate the ISG facility in Manassas as an artificial intelligence innovation hub, the new headquarters are on South 18th Street in Arlington’s Crystal City neighborhood, near Reagan Washington National Airport.
