COUNTY POLICE ARREST MAN AFTER REPORTING SEXUAL ATTACK IN TYSONS: Fairfax County police arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a reported sexual assault on a woman in Tysons on March 3rd.

The county police dispatched officers to the 1500 block on Cornerside Boulevard on March 4 to report a sexual assault the previous day.

The victim was sitting on a bench around 4 p.m. that day when an unknown man approached her, engaged her in a conversation and then allegedly sexually assaulted her, the police said.

The woman screamed and was able to walk. When she left, the man continued to follow her, the police said. A spectator saw the man follow her and accompanied her to a shop.

The man was seen in the area again on March 12 while detectives from the Police Department’s Major Crimes Bureau were working on the case. The officers replied and took Mohamed Souidi into custody without a fixed address.

Authorities have charged Souidi with sexual penetration and kidnapping and are detaining him at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without commitment.

Detectives continue to investigate this case and seek public help. Given the time and location of the attack, detectives believe there may have been people in the area who unwittingly witnessed the crime, police said. FRIDGE FIRE IN GARAGE DAMAGE OAKTON HOME, VEHICLE: A defective refrigerator in a garage started a fire in Oakton on March 18, which destroyed a luxury vehicle.

The department sent the units to the single-family home on the 9900 block on Vale Road at 5:46 a.m. Arriving units found smoke from the garage of the two-story house and put out the fire. No civilians or firefighters were injured in the fire, officials said.

Three inmates were sleeping in the house when the smoke alarm went off and alerted them to the fire. The occupants saw smoke from the attached garage, evacuated the house and called 911.

Investigators found that the fire was inherently random and started in the garage. The cause of the fire was a malfunction in the refrigerator.

The fire displaced three inmates who refused to support the Red Cross. The fire caused $ 137,500 in damage, including a Lexus vehicle stored in the garage.
