July 4th Fireworks in DC, Maryland & Virginia 2021 – NBC4 Washington

The DC area is ready to celebrate this July 4th.

While 2020 didn’t see many celebrations, the end of some COVID-19 restrictions got the Fourth of July back on track.

Check out all of the fireworks displays to enjoy in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Washington, DC

4th of July fireworks on the National Mall: The National Park Service announced on June 15 that the fireworks display would be this year. According to the NPS announcement, the spectacle should start at 9:09 p.m. and last 17 minutes. The fireworks can be enjoyed from many locations in the city, including the National Mall and along the Potomac River in Northern Virginia.

Maryland

Boonsboro: An option for those looking to celebrate Independence Day early is the fireworks in Shafer Park on July 2nd. The fireworks will go off after 9 p.m. If it rains, you can still see the spectacle on July 3rd.

Williamsport: Williamsport also offers an early celebration. The fireworks will go off in Byron Memorial Park on July 2nd, with a second rainy day option on July 3rd. The show begins after a concert that starts at 6 p.m.

Garrett County: On July 4th, fireworks will start over Marsh Mountain overlooking Deep Creek Lake. The Fire on the Mountain Fireworks Display can be viewed from several locations: the scenic overlook along Rt. 219, Wisp Resort, the lawn at Garrett College, aboard a boat on Deep Creek Lake, especially McHenry Cove, or at local shops in McHenry. The rainy date for this event is Monday 5th July.

Hagersstadt: The 30-minute show starts on July 4th at 9:30 pm at Fairgrounds Park. Due to COVID-19, there are no grocery vendors or other types of amenities. Visitors should bring blankets and chairs to sit in the park area and are allowed to bring food.

Howard County: The fireworks display starts on July 4th at 9:20 pm at Lake Kittamaqundi in Colombia and lasts 20 minutes. Spectators can arrive in the park from 3 p.m. and put blankets on the lawn. Visitors should know that Little Patuxent Parkway closes at 7pm. The event also features entertainment and food trucks.

Friedrich: The 99.9 WFRE broadcaster is hosting a concert on July 4th, and although it is chargeable, the fireworks can be viewed for free from any of the public parking spaces. Attend the show at various car parks at The Frederick Fairgrounds (Lot A – E. Patrick Street across from Gate 1; Lot C – Highland Street; Lot E – Highland Street; Infield Lot – access via Gate 3.)

Annapolis: Although the city of Annapolis is hosting a series of Independence Day celebrations starting Friday July 2nd, the fireworks will be on July 4th. The fireworks will start at 9:15 pm from Annapolis Harbor and can be viewed from various locations. Some of the places to enjoy the show are northeast of the Severn River, City Dock, the Naval Academy Bridge – though parking is limited, roadside parks overlooking Spa Creek, or aboard a boat in Annapolis Harbor.

When paying: The gates of the Charles County Fairgrounds will open at 3 p.m. on July 4th for visitors to enjoy an afternoon of activity followed by a fireworks display. The display takes place after dark and is accompanied by music from The Port Tobacco Pickers and The Bucket List.

Ocean city: Ocean City will feature two different fireworks viewing locations on July 4th. After 9:30 p.m., people can enjoy the Downtown Independence Day celebrations on the beach on N. Division Street or Uptown on Northside Park.

Virginia

Herd; A socially distant fireworks spectacle will be shown on July 4th at 9:30 pm from the Herndon Centennial Golf Course. Those interested should bring blankets and chairs to the bread park, which opens at 8 p.m. Barbecuing is not permitted.

Lorton: For those who can’t go out on Independence Day, the Workhouse Arts Center will be hosting fireworks on July 2nd. Those interested must purchase tickets between $ 40 and $ 110 with various perks. The fireworks will go off in the dark, but the event will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Colonial Williamsburg: At the free event, a 20-minute fireworks display will be shown on the Governor’s Palace from 9:20 p.m. People can enjoy the spectacle from a variety of locations including Palace Green and the Art Museum lawn.

Perpetrator: After a day of activities like a 3 mile race and patriotic presentation at Yowell Meadow Park, people can enjoy the city’s fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. on July 4th, starting from Rock Water Park after Parking 17 o’clock

Manassas: The city of Manassas will also have a fun day starting at 3:30 p.m. before the fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Those interested in watching the show are encouraged to find a spot on the Manassas Museum Lawn.

Fairfax: The Independence Day fireworks will be set off on July 4th at Fairfax High School. Although there aren’t any activities for kids, there is entertainment from 6:30 p.m. – just before the fireworks.

Big falls: Turner Farm Park gates will open at 6pm. Visitors can enjoy music, games, and food while they wait for the main event.
