Potomac River missing swimmers near Great Falls Park Memorial Day

The swimmer went missing in the Potomac River around 8 p.m. By 9:30 p.m., rescue workers had found the missing person’s personal belongings.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Maryland – Rescue teams from Fairfax Counties and Montgomery Counties have been searching for a missing man on the Potomac River between Carderick and the American Legion Bridge, according to Pete Piringer of Montgomery County’s Fire and Rescue.

The swimmer went missing in the Potomac River around 8 p.m. According to Piringer, rescue workers had found the missing person’s personal belongings by 9:30 p.m.

The US parking police also provided a helicopter as part of the search.

The place the swimmer went missing was near the Billy Goat Trail and Great Falls Park.

No further information is available about the man missing on the Potomac River. It is not known what led to his disappearance.

This missing swimmer on the Potomac River comes after a man from Falls Church drowned in the Outer Banks on Friday night at the start of Memorial Day weekend.

According to officials in Manteo, North Carolina, Falls Church was surf fishing when he drowned.
