Richmond Crime Statistics for 2021

RICHMOND, VA. – The number of murders in Richmond from 2021 to 2020 is the same at this point: 16.

But the number of serious gun attacks has increased, although the number of arrests has also increased.

Detectives’ turnaround times for serious crimes in shootings, death investigations, and murders were relatively quick.

The motives behind the crimes are varied: According to Crime Insider sources, domestic, friendly fire and robbery are some of the reasons for a violent few weeks in the capital.

“If he likes you and gets on with you, he would do anything to help you,” said Iris Smith, whose son George’s son was killed outside a supermarket on Baker Street after playing slots. His case remains unsolved, but CI sources tell me Detectives have clues.

“It’s a nice area, but I don’t know what’s going on here recently,” said a woman whose 17-year-old daughter was shot while watching TV last Tuesday night.

Who shot up the block remains a mystery.

Detectives have made progress in at least nine other recent cases.

“They left without much sleep and did a great job closing these cases and providing some relief to families who ask a lot of questions about what happened to their loved ones.”

Jamara Claiborne and James Austin are two of the nine arrested. You were stopped in Smythe County for speeding. They were wanted for attempted murder and firearms after a 16-year-old girl was shot dead on Dill Avenue.

Soldiers say they have two teenagers with them.

According to the police, at least three of the youngest victims are under the age of 18. According to Chief Gerald Smith, a village is needed for correction.

“We can’t do it alone,” said Smith. “Everyone has to step in and offer ideas and resources. We have to stop fearing Covid, work on it, and find a way to connect.”

Smith says his serious crime detectives work with members of the community to obtain information and that the arrests are possible because of their working relationship.
