Shot down volleyball by UConn in four sets

Box score CAUTION, RI- The Providence College volleyball team fell in four sets against UConn. The brothers won the first set (25-20) before falling to the Huskies in the remaining three sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-21). The brothers drop to 13-7 (1-6 BIG EAST) overall and the huskies improve to 13-6 (5-2 BIG EAST).

FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Providence held the lead for the entire set after taking the lead 6-2 at the beginning of the set. The Huskies took 17-15 within two, but the brothers eventually won the set with 25-20.

Emma Fink (Western Springs, Illinois) scored six kills out of a total of 10 attacks (0.600).

Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minnesota) had 14 assists.

Fink and Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) led the brothers’ defensive end with three digs each.

SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: The Huskies took the second set, 25-18, with the help of a 9-0 run in the middle of the set.

Fink counted four kills at team level.

Barber recorded six assists.

Caroline LaMacchia (Rockville Center, NY) and Barber each had five digs in the second set.

THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: After 14 ties and six changes in the lead in the third set, UConn took the win, 25-22.

Fink led the Friar offensive again with five kills out of nine total attacks (.556).

Barber recorded all 14 assists for the brothers.

Jiji Lykins (Virgina Beach, Virginia) and LaMacchia stayed in the dig with six each in team high.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FOURTH MOVEMENT: After another set of back and forth, UConn won the fourth set, 25-21.

Emma Nelson (West Chester, Pennsylvania) had four kills in a total of nine attacks.

Barber led the brothers with eight assists with a team high of five digs.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

Fink kept the Friar offensive at the same level with 17 kills in a total of 37 attacks. Fink was the only other monk with double-digit kills.

Barber had 42 assists at field height.

LaMacchia and Barber hit team highs with 15 digs each.

As a team, the brothers had 46 kills in a total of 157 attacks, 68 excavations, 45 assists and a total of three team blocks.
