Virginia Inc.’s Southern National Bancorp and its Sonabank banking subsidiary changed their company name to Primis Financial Corp., effective March 31. and Primis Bankm changed.

The name of the Sonabank is gone. It is now called Primis Bank.

McLean-based Southern National Bancorp owned by Virginia Inc., the parent company of Henrico County-based Sonabank, changed its company name to Primis Financial Corp. effective Wednesday. and its subsidiary in the Operis Bank in Primis Bank.

The company’s ticker symbol has also been changed from SONA to FRST.

The bank announced its plans for a rebranding at the end of January. The name Primis means “first” in Latin.
