The Diocese of Richmond adds 4 more priests to the list accused of sexually abusing children

RICHMOND, Virginia – The Catholic Diocese of Richmond said it added the names of four other priests to its long list of “credible and substantiated allegations of sexual abuse against minors.”

Three of the newcomers have died, and the living priest Joseph Slowik has not been in active service since 2006, the diocese said.

The following priests have been added:

  • Robert D. Beattie, Priest of the Diocese of Richmond
  • Leo Creamer, ordained priest in the Diocese of Richmond, later incarnated in the Diocese of Arlington
  • Patrick F. Quinn, Priest of the Diocese of Richmond
  • Joseph Slowik, Priest of the Diocese of Richmond

The diocese announced that the authorities had been notified.

Individuals who have been sexually abused by a priest, deacon, religious, lay worker, or volunteer in the diocese are encouraged to report the abuse directly to law enforcement agencies, including the Child Protection Service (CPS), at 1-800-552-7096 and by calling the helpline for abuse by clergy of the Virginia Attorney General at 1-833-454-9064.
