Verizon grants are available to over a dozen small businesses in the Richmond area

RICHMOND, VA. – Verizon helps small businesses across the country and the Commonwealth struggling to stay afloat.

Verizon has awarded more than a dozen local businesses a $ 10,000 grant.

It was a welcome boost during the pandemic when many of the small businesses were struggling to make ends meet.

Verizon specifically selected the nonprofit LISC and donated millions to be distributed to small businesses across the country.

One of these small businesses was The Village Children and Family Services.

Owner Lekesha Broussard said her mental health agency saw a surge in clients during the pandemic because so many people are feeling the stress of mental health. The Verizon Scholarship had a huge impact on their business.

Verizon also launched Small Business Days in honor of Small Business Week and offered free personalized technical reviews tailored for small businesses.

The goal is to help them get the technology and tools they need to improve their mobile communications, connectivity and security.

So far this year, more than 900 small businesses across the country have received the $ 10,000 grant. Small businesses wishing to apply can find out more at Lisc.org.
