Alexandria’s Back to School bash set for July 31st

ALEXANDRIA, La. (City of Alexandria) – The City of Alexandria is holding a Back to School Bash at the Randolph Riverfront Center at 707 Second Street in downtown Alexandria on Saturday, July 31st, 10 am-2pm.

Local students in grades Pre-K through 12 can once again receive school supplies, including pens, paper, notebooks, crayons, crayons, and other teaching materials, free of charge.

There will also be a range of fun activities as well as a K9 demonstration.

Face masks and social distancing will be required during the event for the health and safety of attendees.

“It is important that students have access to the basic school supplies they need to be successful in the classroom,” said Alexandria Mayor Jeff Hall. “This is so important to us that we do it every year. Despite the pandemic last year, we managed to host a drive-through event for supplies. We are delighted to be able to do so this year at the Riverfront Center, where we hope to be able to provide material to as many school children as possible in Alexandria. “

The partners of the city of Alexandria in the Back to School Bash are the Rapides Parish School Board and Radio 104.3 The Bridge.

“We are excited to be working with the City of Alexandria to ensure students and families are prepared for the coming school year,” said Jeff Powell, superintendent of Rapides Parish School. “The city of Alexandria and the Rapides Parish public school system are really #bettertogether!”

“With the relaunch of 104.3 The Bridge, we see our ultimate goal in serving the community,” said General Manager Doug Gann. “We host Family Fest events four times a year, and we felt that partnering with the City of Alexandria in supporting this event was a perfect way to re-introduce ourselves and our family-friendly Christian music station in Central Louisiana. We look forward to being a voice and partner in our community for the years to come. There are innumerable needs in this area, and a glaring one is to put school supplies in the hands of families in need. What better way to help people encounter God’s love than to serve others. “
