Termaine Battle, who works at Battle Enterprises, said car accidents were nothing new in the area.

“We’ve seen people get hit and they’re moving on, so something definitely needs to be done in this particular area,” he said.

With several shops, a church, and an apartment complex in the area, the street attracts a lot of car and pedestrian traffic.

However, Battle said he is calling on city guides to intervene and see what can change.

“Maybe a slower speed limit, maybe not this intersection at all.”

He advocates that motorists and pedestrians work together and ensure the safety of the community.

“It’s a shame we have to wait for something like this to happen before something is done,” he said. “I have a feeling we don’t have to wait for another to happen; another death occurs until we can fix this situation here. “
