Nova Scotia reported 40 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the number of active cases to 248.

34 of the new cases are in the central zone, four in the west zone and two in the north zone. The province no longer provides information about the source of the infection, for example whether newly reported cases are close contacts to previously reported cases, in investigations or in connection with travel.

Seventeen people are hospitalized with COVID-19, four of them in intensive care.

As of Tuesday, 75.4 percent of Nova Scotians have been fully vaccinated.

Laboratories across the province processed 3,603 COVID-19 tests on Monday.

Premier Tim Houston and Dr. Robert Strang, the Chief Medical Officer of Health, will be holding a briefing on COVID-19 at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. CBC Nova Scotia will be streaming the update live.
